Join the HammerZone Sports premier coaching staff for a 4-week Youth Catching Academy featuring former college players. Players will participate in a variety of drills, competitions, and discussions to develop concepts commonly associated with elite-level catchers. Training devices will be used to evaluate progress.

It’s a 4-week catching academy at HammerZone Sports in Fairfax, VA, led by our coaching staff, including former college players. Across four sessions, players work through drills, competitions, and discussions built around the concepts that show up in elite-level catchers. We use training devices throughout to measure and evaluate each player’s progress.

The catching academy meets on Fridays in July 2026: July 10, 17, 24, and 31. Sessions run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The July 2026 catching academy is led by Brendan King, who coaches baseball hitting and catching at HammerZone. Our academy staff includes former college players, and every session is run by a HammerZone coach.

Players should bring a bat, glove, helmet, and a water bottle. Wear tennis shoes, turf shoes, or molded cleats — no metal spikes. Please leave seeds and gum at home. Plan to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before your session starts.
