Grace Chavez

Grace Chavez is the Head Varsity Coach at James Madison High School and a former Division I softball player at Virginia Tech, where she competed for five seasons as a catcher and designated hitter. Known for her power at the plate, Chavez finished her collegiate career with 24 home runs and a .642 slugging percentage, establishing herself as a consistent offensive threat in the ACC.

 As an instructor, Chavez specializes in developing hitting power, swing mechanics, and offensive confidence in athletes of all ages. Drawing from her experience as a Designated Hitter at the Division I level, she focuses on helping hitters understand how to generate power efficiently while building repeatable mechanics that translate into game performance.

 In addition to leading the varsity program at James Madison, Grace coaches travel softball and works with athletes individually to help them reach their goals—whether that’s making a school team, increasing power at the plate, or preparing to compete at the next level. Grace is passionate about developing not only strong softball players but also confident, resilient athletes who love the game and understand what it takes to succeed.
